Coed Kickball Rules

Coed Kickball Rules

Attention:
Team captains/coaches please be sure your teams are familiar with the Tulsa Sports and Events Coed Kickball rules and regulations.

Tournament:
Tournament is in double elimination format. Each team is guaranteed at least 2 games.

Game Time:
All games will be limited to 45 minutes with partial innings being completed. In the event of a tie extra innings will be played until a winner is decided.

Grace period:
The first game should begin as scheduled. A grace period of 5 minutes will be allowed only if one team does not have a minimum of 8 players present. The grace period will not reduce the 45 minute game time. Failure to field a team after 5 minutes will be a forfeit.

Players:

All teams should have at least 10 players ratio in the field must be at least 50/50 male to female.

Player Attire:

No metal cleats!

Kicking:

All lineups will kick boy/girl boy/girl

All balls must be kicked from below the knee. Any balls kicked above the knee will be considered a foul ball.

Kickers must kick from within the kicking box. Kicking box will be designated by cones.

Any kick that is contacted in front of home plate is a foul ball.

In the event that a male is walked the next female batter will have the choice to take a base or kick the ball. (Exception ** This rules does not apply if the bases are loaded. The female batter must bat if the bases are loaded.)

Stealing Bases:

No lead offs no stealing!

Players are considered out when:

(1) Striking out, (2) A fly ball caught by the defense, (3) A throw out at one of the lead bases, (4) The runner being tagged by the ball, (5) Infield fly rule (6) A foul out, or (7) A runner being struck by a thrown ball below the head while attempting to advance or return to a base.

Base runner to defensive player contact will be closely watched by the ump. Any excessive contact or collision will result in an “out” and/or ejection. This includes contact with the catcher. Sliding is allowed. Any sliding into a base to break up a double play, or any intentional (in the eyes of the monitor) interference with the defensive player, the runner and the batter will be called out.

All thrown balls are deemed out of play when:
• The ball is thrown over the fence
• The ball is thrown beyond the fence
• The ball is thrown beyond the imaginary line extending from the end of the backstop (if there is no fence).
• This imaginary line applies to overthrows and caught fly foul balls.
• If the ball is overthrown and hits the fence behind the 1st or 3rd base lines, this is NOT considered out of play and the runner may advance, BUT at his/her own risk.

On overthrows out of play, the runner is granted the base he/she is going to (at the point of the throw) plus one more. Note: in cases where a base runner runs past first base, he/she must make a clearly aggressive turn towards second base to be granted 2nd and 3rd in overthrow situations.

On an infield fly (any ball kicked within the infield with significant arc and deemed an “easy catch”) with less than 2 outs and runners on 1st and 2nd or 1st, 2nd and 3rd, the batter is automatically out and runners can advance, BUT at their own risk.

Rushing the plate on a bunt:

All outfielders must remain behind the chalked and/or coned “outfield line” (if applicable - consult with your ump before your game to determine if this rule is enforced at your particular league) when a female is up to bat. If the “line” is not clearly marked it us up to the umpire’s discretion if an outfielder is too close to the infield. There cannot be more than 7 players on the infield at any one time. Once contact has been made the outfielders may cross the line. If an outfielder crosses the line before contact has been made the female may be awarded first base.

Pitching:

Pitchers may roll or bounce the ball. (If the ball is bounced it must bounce at least 2 times in order to be considered a strike.)

The Ball must cross home plate below the players knee in order to be considered a strike.

Batters Count:

Batters will start at the kicking box with 1 ball and 1 strike.

Hitting a runner with the ball:

Players may throw the ball and hit the base runner to tag them out.

Hitting a runner in or above the neck is illegal and will result in the runner being safe. The only time hitting a runner in the head is ever legal is during a slide or dive.

Please keep in mind that during a slide or dive if a player is hit above the neck the umpire will still have the right to let batters advance a base if he/she feels it is justified.

Run Rule:
If during a game a team scores 7 runs in an inning the opposing team will then come up to bat and the batting team will take the field. In the event that more than 7 runs are needed to take the lead this rule will not apply during the last 10 minutes of the game.
